AFF-Chicago Rupe Debate: Immigration

By: Kathryn Shelton

Chicago 5-14 (36)America’s Future Foundation-Chicago and the Arthur N. Rupe Foundation partnered to present a debate on conservative and libertarian perspectives on immigration reform.

The Heritage Foundation’s David Inserra and Henrik Rasmussen of Rasmussen Public Affairs were on hand to discuss a refreshing, intellectual and well-argued debate on the recent activity regarding potential immigration reform legislation on Capitol Hill as well as the merits and principle guidelines of how to achieve comprehensive reform in a responsible and humanitarian way. The panel, moderated by AF-Chicago President Eric Kohn, discovered common ground on many goals and debated their differences in a very impressive, energetic and respectful exhibition.

The audience for the debate tied AF-Chicago’s all-time attendance record not matched since AF-Chicago hosted former Governor and 2012 presidential candidate Gary Johnson a few years earlier. The exceptionally large crowd on hand took the opportunity to engage the panel in a lively Q&A as well as network with other liberty-mined leaders before and after the event
