AFF Chicago February Happy Hour: Roger L. Simon booksigning
Academy Award nominee, mystery novel author and prolific blogger Roger L. Simon of PajamasMedia joined AFF Chicago on February 25th for a booksigning during our most recent happy hour. Roger mingled with our network of liberty-minded Chicagoans, and provided a plethora of stories relating to his experience as a Hollywood insider. Roger also touched on his conversion away from liberal thought to a “libertarian neocon.”
After spending time with our guests, this well-known author signed books and continued with stories about figures in media from Ariana Huffington, to Mel Gibson. Roger’s book is a biographical account detailing his own experience and growth as a liberty-minded patriot in the world of the Hollywood left. Additionally, we learned more about how the Internet is transforming entertainment, and how those concerned about limits to personal liberty can take advantage of technology to fight back against the all too real occasions causing those concerns.
This anecdote served as a nice segway for our roundtable scheduled for next month – “Technology: How it can hinder, and enhance personal liberty.”
