AFF Nova:The Road Back to Capitalism

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
The Obama Administration is off and running. In the past two months we have seen a slew of new big government programs and unprecedented spending. Since the loss of the election in November capitalists from across the nation have started to think about the road back not only to power, but how to return the country to believing in free-market principles. With a plummeting economy, do free market ideas stand a chance? Can the defenders of capitalism find new and creative ways to express their ideas in opposition to Obama’s socialist vision? Have Republicans discovered a comeback strategy based on ideas and principles that libertarians and conservatives can support? What does the Republican win in Northern Virginia’s the special election for supervisor mean for Virginia? What is the road back to capitalism?
Joining us for this discussion is Ed Goeas, President/CEO of Tarrance Group; Kerri Houston Toloczko, Senior Vice President of the Institute for Liberty and Anthony Bedell, Executive Director of the Fairfax County Republican Keith Fimian the Committee and Chairman and CEO of US Inspect and former congressional candidate, Virginia 11th.

This event will take place on Wednesday, April 1st at Auld Shebeen (Cellar Room).  A reception will begin at 6:00 pm with drinks and hors’ d oeuvres, then we will kickoff the discussion at 7:00 pm. Please RSVP to Kathleen O’Hearn at kathleen@americasfuture.org.

AFF on the Road Minneapolis, Minnesota

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

“AFF on the Road” next stop: Minneapolis, Minnesota! On Thursday, July 24th America’s Future Foundation will host “The Pre-convention Debate: Has the GOP gotten the message?” just a few short months before the Republican convention.

Coming off special election losses and into its convention, has the GOP gotten the message? Conservatives and libertarians have demanded that Republicans live up to their limited government principles. And yet, many Republicans in Congress voted for further increases in spending in the recent 2008 Farm Bill. At the convention, does McCain and the GOP leadership have what it takes to pull the party together around a program of limited government? Or, are the concerns of the conservative and libertarian “base” irrelevant as Obama and McCain vie for independent-minded swing voters? Join America’s Future Foundation to find out.

Joining us for this conversation is Jeff Larson, CEO of the Minneapolis St. Paul 2008 Host Committee for the 2008 Republican convention and founding partner of Feather, Larson & Synhorst and Ryan Sager, author of “Elephant in the Room: Evangelicals, Libertarians and the Battle to Control the Republican Party” (books will be available to purchase) and David Freddoso of the National Review Online. Annette Meeks of the Freedom Foundation will moderate this discussion.

This event will be held on the 3rd floor of Solera Restaurant in downtown Minneapolis. Solera is located at 900 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55403. A reception will begin at 6:00 pm with drinks and hors d’ oeuvres and the roundtable will begin at 7:00 pm.

Please sent this out to your friends/colleagues in St.Paul/Minneapolis and RSVP to Kathleen@americasfuture.org.
