Join us for our second AFABQ Leadership Series. We are pleased to have City Councilor Dan Lewis speak with us. Councilor Lewis was elected November of 2010 and currently serves as the District 5 City Councilor. As usual, the first drink (craft beer, wine, and non-alcoholics beverages) is on us and so is all the great food! Admission is free, but you do need to signup via Eventbrite at the URL Link below. City Councilor Dan Lewis has been a resident of Albuquerque’s West Side for 20 years, and was first elected to represent the rapidly growing communities in the northwest corner of the city in 2009. He is the current Council president.
Other leadership roles on the Albuquerque City Council have included:

Council President in 2013 and 2016
Chairman of the Finance Committee in 2012 and 2015
Chairman of the Budget Committee in 2011 and 2013

Councilor Lewis earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix and his Master’s Degree from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He is certified as a high school teacher and athletic coach in New Mexico. He is also a member of the National Kidney Foundation, and is a living kidney donor.

Councilor Lewis understands the challenges faced by small-business owners, having owned and operated two small businesses in Albuquerque: Rio Grande Foam, an upholstery supply company, and Rio Grande Rustics, a wholesale furniture company. He and his wife, Tracy, also founded the West Side’s Soul Rio Church in 1998, and have spent years counseling troubled marriages, encouraging and supporting parents, and promoting strong families. He currently works for a wholesale petroleum company with headquarters on the West Side of Albuquerque.

Councilor Lewis has an open door, “I work for you” policy. He enjoys speaking with each of his constituents, listening to their ideas, and ensuring that their concerns are prioritized and addressed.
