Elephant & Castle
In August of 2014 the New York Times asked the question, “Has the Libertarian Moment Finally Arrived?” This was in the wake of a flood of attention to U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) following his filibuster of the federal government’s drone strike program on the floor of the Senate. Two years later, Paul was merely an also-ran in the presidential race, and Donald Trump had captured the GOP nomination.
So, what happened to the “libertarian moment?” Did it pass? Did it ever exist at all? Or is it still in the offing?
