“In a country of 319 million, there were 259 million opiate-painkiller prescriptions written [in 2015].”

Over the past few years, Kevin Williamson has traversed America covering the emerging opioid crisis as National Review’s roving correspondent. From New Orleans to Florida, up the Heroin Highway to Appalachia, there are Americans suffering from an addiction opiates that often started from physicial prescribed painkillers like oxycodone and oxycontin.

How bad is this opioid crisis? What, if anything, can we do to solve it? What role has it played in the decline of blue collar, working class America and what role has that decline played in the crisis? What are the implications of the crisis on efforts to ratchet down, if not end, the war on drugs?

Join America’s Future Foundation – Chicago as we host National Review’s Kevin Williamson for a discussion on the opioid crisis.

Admission is $10 and includes complimentary food and two drink tickets.
