Polish Your Public Speaking Skills

October 18, 2017 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Detroit Beer Company

1529 Broadway Street, Detroit, Michigan 48226

Whatever industry you work in, or job you have, it’s always important to improve and polish your public speaking skills. For our monthly event (back to our usual third Wednesday!), we are excited to partner with the Leadership Institute for their in depth Public Speaking Workshop.

Come dive in and learn about message construction, delivery, and understand how the best communicators do it. You’ll receive practical lessons and personalized feedback, and can participate in an in-class exercise to make you a better, more confident public speaker.

You’ll learn to:
• Deliver speeches professionally
• Overcome common fears about speaking in public
• Organize and prepare effective speeches
• Think on your feet in impromptu speeches

Dena Espenscheid, Director of Grassroots Coalitions at the Leadership Institute, will lead the training. She has 24 years of experience in grassroots activism and politics. She has held a variety of positions in public policy organizations, advertising agencies, and political campaigns. Much of her work has been focused on grassroots organizing, and she often acts as a trainer for the volunteers whom she was directing. She has extensive volunteer or paid experience on campaigns at the campus, city, district, statewide, and presidential levels.

Doors Open at 6pm, Remarks at 6:30pm, Reception to Follow

Join us for this discussion and evening to meet and network with other young professionals from across metro Detroit. As always, we will have lots of food and your first drink is on us!
