The State of Free Speech and Unpopular Opinion Face-Off

December 7, 2017 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM

Hudson Grille Midtown

942 Peachtree St Atlanta, Atlanta, GA 30309

Free speech is a hot topic, especially on college campuses. Speech everywhere is being both protested and protected, sometimes violently. With so much hype around the subject, it’s hard to get a sense of what’s really going on. Thankfully, the experts at FIRE are on the subject, and they’ve kindly sent their Executive Director Robert Shibley to talk with us about it.

But it gets better! We know you’ve got your own opinions about all kinds of things and not all of them are terribly popular. But we want to hear them anyway! Once Robert is done speaking, we’re having an Unpopular Opinion Face-Off. From now until December 1, you can submit your unpopular opinion to [email protected] with the subject line “Unpopular Opinion”. We’ll pick the best three opinions. (Don’t worry. We’ll email you ahead of time to let you know if you’re chosen.) The finalists will have three minutes to state and briefly defend their unpopular opinion. Once all the opinions have been given, our esteemed audience will vote on whose is the best! The winner gets bragging rights and a sweet $50 Visa gift card!

You absolutely must submit your opinion to [email protected] with the subject line “Unpopular Opinion” by 11:59 pm on December 1 to be eligible for consideration.

This special edition of AF Atlanta will be held at a special location of the upstairs room of Hudson Gille Midtown. All attendees will receive two drink tickets and food will be provided.

So go ahead and RSVP now, and be sure to email us those unpopular opinions! See you there!
