Sometimes one must take a stand…

by | February 26, 2009

Last week word leaked out that Christopher Hitchens had gotten into a dustup with some Syrian Nazis; Michael Totten has all the details up over at his place. The entire post is worth reading, but this is the takeaway (Totten is the first speaker):

“The SSNP,” I said, “is the last party you want to mess with in Lebanon. I’m sorry I didn’t warn you properly. This is partly my fault.”

“I appreciate that,” Christopher said. “But I would have done it anyway. One must take a stand. One simply must.”

Indeed. Standing up for your principles isn’t always easy, but sometimes it’s worth it–even if you take a beating.
