About DonorsTrust
DonorsTrust is a cause-related donor-advised fund dedicated to promoting liberty and serving donors who share our mission. DonorsTrust was established in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) publicly supported charity. Since our founding, client donors have contributed over $1 billion to donor-advised fund accounts, while recommending issuance of $1 billion in grants to civic and liberty-oriented charities.

About the Opening
DonorsTrust seeks an Accounting and Grants Director to assist with managing and bolstering its donor-advised fund accounting and grants making capabilities.

The successful candidate will have strong communications skills, as they will work closely not only with the DonorsTrust Team, but with its clients and grantees. The position provides considerable independence with potential for upward mobility as DonorsTrust continues to grow. The position is a “hands-on” position, requiring not only supervision of personnel, but day-to-day accounting and reconciliation work. The ideal candidate will be a self-learner and enjoy acquiring new skills and improving their existing technology skills.

DonorsTrust is open to hiring a mid-level professional who is excited about growth potential or a more seasoned professional (who is comfortable handling critical daily tasks such as reconciliation) who could take on additional responsibilities.

The primary duties of the successful candidate are:
Daily unitization of donor-advised fund (DAF) account balances, requiring database entries on a daily basis
Reconciling the aggregate donor-advised fund account balances to the account balances of various financial institutions on a daily basis
Daily and periodic updating of online databases
Review of set-up of new donor-advised fund accounts
Initial preparation and review of DAF quarterly and annual account statements
Assist with answering questions from DAF advisors concerning their accounts
Preparing other records for clients and management, as necessary
Overseeing due diligence on prospective grantees
Reviewing files to be sure contributions and grants are correctly documented
Reviewing grant letters and checks, and contribution acknowledgment letters prior to issuance

Additional duties include:
Assisting the CFO with budget and other financial matters
Preparation and/or review of accounts payable checks and electronic payments

Requirements
 - The ideal Director will possess the following attributes:
Minimum 3 years accounting experience, CPA or advanced degree a plus
Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, Word and Access
Strong technology ability, including the ability to self-solve technology problems
Solid communications skills
Ability to interact with account advisors and grantee personnel
Ability to work independently as well as with a team
Self-learner who enjoys acquiring new skills and improving existing skills
Preference for dogs over cats

This position offers room for advancement as DonorsTrust and its affiliates continue to grow.

Salary
Commensurate with experience. DonorsTrust offers a 403(b) retirement plan and, commencing with the second calendar year with DonorsTrust, a SEP-IRA plan to which DonorsTrust contributes. We also pay for parking or metro. Our office is conveniently located next to the King Street metro stop.
