Description

The Mercatus Center at George Mason University is seeking an entry-level Help Desk Specialist to join our growing IT team. This role provides front line, first level support for all hardware and software issues, coordinates phone support requests, and A/V support for meetings and events. The ideal candidate will have a proactive attitude and demonstrate an interest in learning in a supportive environment with a willingness, desire, and ability to learn new skills.

Job Description:

-Provide first-level customer support to staff as the first point of contact for IT.
-Prioritize customer's requests, follow-up, and track through to resolution.
-Troubleshoot a wide range of hardware and software including (not limited to) wireless, laptops, desktops, monitors, printers, phones, Windows OS, Mac OS, Microsoft Office Suite, conferencing software.
-Coordinate phone system support with George Mason University.
-Document and maintain all hardware and software licenses.
-Setup and support A/V for meetings and events.
-Maintain proper and accurate documentation of issues and customer communication within ticketing software.
-Timely resolution of customer's issues and handling of tickets.
-Maintain and setup user accounts in Active Directory, Office365 and other supported software.
-Communicate issue trends with senior staff as soon as identified.

Basic Qualifications:

-Associates Degree (Bachelor's preferred)
-1 year of relevant technology support experience
-Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Windows OS, and Mac OS
-Ability to troubleshoot PC/Mac configurations, basic network issues, and connectivity issues
-Outstanding customer service and team collaboration
-Excellent communication, analytical, and problem solving skills
