Meet the Speakers: “On or Off the Hill: Your Next Career Move”

By: AF Editors

Recently, AF DC joined with the Network of enlightened Women to co-host a career development panel on Capitol Hill entitled, “On or Off the Hill: Your Next Career Move.”

This event brought together a panel of professionals from a variety of career fields and organizations, with representation from a nonprofit group, the private sector, a federal agency and a congressional office. The speakers discussed their own career trajectories and addressed some of the more common career concerns facing young professionals in DC, namely whether or not one should pursue work experience or focus on obtaining an advanced degree. Hear from the speakers below and check back for additional excerpts from this great event:

Stuart Burns, Chief of Staff, Congressman Bill Posey of Florida: “25 Years on the Hill”

Shawne McGibbon, General Counsel, Administrative Conference of the United States: “An Unexpected Trajectory”

Katie Harbath, Associate Manager for Policy, Facebook: “Creating Your Career”

Janine Nichols, External Affairs, American Enterprise Institute: “How I Got My Foot in the Door”
