There are several great opportunities this week for you to grow your network or nurture previous connections into meaningful relationships. People are often comfortable in their daily routines and tend to hibernate during the colder months in DC. Monday, January 26th

  • Liberty Toastmasters

Where: The Loft at 600 F, 600 F Street, NW, Suite 300, Washington, District of Columbia 20004

When: 6:25 PM

On the fourth Monday of every month, Liberty Toastmasters meets at their DC location, The Loft at 600 F, in Chinatown.  If you have not attended a meeting before, feel free to come out meet likeminded people and observe others as they develop their public speaking skills.   • Tips for Nailing Job, Internship, or Program Applications

  • The 2015 State of the Net Conference

Where: The Newseum’s Knight Conference Center, 555 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W., Washington, DC 20001

When: 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM

The State of the Net Conference is the largest Internet policy conference in the US. It is an amazing opportunity to network with Congressional staff, public interest advocates, and representatives from nonprofit and research institutions. The goal of the conference is to educate the public and policymakers about the key Internet policy issues. The conference attracts 700 attendees on average each year with over 50 percent being Congressional Staff. Several directors and commissioners representing an alphabet soup of agencies, including: FTC, FCC, DOC, DOJ, DHS, will also be in attendance. Breakfast and a networking lunch will be provided.

  • Kicking Off 2015: Come Meet YPFP

The Washington chapter of the Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) is having their first happy hour of the year at James Hoban’s Irish Bar and Restaurant.   • Women, Power, & Politics: Why You Should Lead and How to Succeed

Every other week, The Leadership Institute hosts a live webinar to give conservative activists political training. This week features speaker Nancy Bocskor and includes a live Q&A and online chat. Nancy is the author of Go Fish: How to Catch (and Keep) Contributors: A Practical Guide to Fundraising. She is also a professor at George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management where she teaches both online and “live” fundraising courses. Watch for free here.
