Outraged all the way to the bank

By: AF Editors

I have to say, I found this piece on Alan Moore’s trepidation, to put it mildly, over the new Watchmen adaptation amusing. To be fair, I wouldn’t be too thrilled about the guy who directed sausage-fest 300 getting his hands on my baby, either. (As a sidenote, Victor Davis Hanson’s positive review of that film will be remembered as his second-worst judgment call ever. Discuss.)

Here is Moore on Hollywood:

It spoon-feeds us, which has the effect of watering down our collective cultural imagination. It is as if we are freshly hatched birds looking up with our mouths open waiting for Hollywood to feed us more regurgitated worms. The Watchmen film sounds like more regurgitated worms. I for one am sick of worms.

He’s right too. From Hell, V For Vendetta, The League of Extraodinary Gentlemen, etc. were terri –wait a minute. That’s a lot of worms. What do his contracts look like anyway?

Of course, I always found Watchmen pretentious and overrated. Now, 100 Bullets. That’s a fuckin’ comic book, or graphic novel, or whatever.
