Hands off my bourbon, Euros!

I have one true love when it comes to booze:* bourbon. My Kentucky spirit of choice is Wellers. I love all the varieties therein, but my absolute favorite is Old Weller Antique, a 7 year old bourbon that goes down smooth despite the fact that it’s 107 proof. Vanilla and honey waft around the nostril, and that little burn once it hits your tongues lets you know that, despite its smooth, sweet taste, you’re drinking a man’s drink. And all this for only $20 a bottle.

But I can’t find the stuff anywhere in DC, and my stock is running low. I’ve put in orders at a couple of different liquor stores: no luck. And it probably has something to do with the skyrocketing demand of bourbon around the world.** Lame.

*Other than the Careful Man’s Peachy Punch, of course.

**Well…maybe not. But I need someone to blame when I go dry.

I highly recommend Bulliet.

Bulleit’s not bad…it feels stronger than Weller, even though it’s a lighter proof. It definitely goes down a little less smoothly than the Wellers, though…
