The Moon is a Harsh Mistress: An AF-Chicago Music Composition Première & Discussion

By: rlorenc

Written in 1966, ‘The Moon is a Harsh Mistress’ is acclaimed science fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein’s story about a lunar colony’s revolt against rule from Earth. Widely admired for its credible presentation of a comprehensively imagined future human society on both the Earth and the moon, it is generally considered one of Heinlein’s major novels as well as one of the most important science fiction novels ever written.

At its core, it is a tale of libertarian revolution and is, along with Ayn Rand’s magnum opus ‘Atlas Shrugged,’ one of the greatest and most influential libertarian works of fiction ever created.

Join AF-Chicago on June 12th for a very special event as we première an original musical work inspired by ‘The Moon is a Harsh Mistress’ from up-and-coming composer Danny Hynds. Following the performance, the composer will join a discussion on the book’s themes and the philosophy that inspired this new musical work.

Admission for non-members is $10 , and includes open bar and pizza. Admission is free to all AF-Chicago members.
