About This Chapter
AFF-Houston is a professional development network for individuals who believe in the power of personal liberty, entrepreneurship, and innovation–channeled through free markets–to promote positive social change. AFF-Houston events bring the “doers” of Houston together to network, learn from each other, discuss key issues, and ultimately collaborate to improve themselves and the city as a whole.
Heather Redmon grew up in Cypress, a suburb of Houston. Moving into the city for college, she earned a degree in history from the University of Houston. While in college, she was active in the Young Americans for Liberty chapter and the Chi Omega Fraternity. In both organizations, she took on a role in event planning and coordinating. Throughout college, Heather was active in volunteering for liberty-minded and other grassroots organizations. Recently, she has been focusing on earning her teaching certification with hopes to pass her love for history and learning to the youth of Houston. In her spare time she enjoys camping, visiting local historical sites, and reading. She writes, "Houston is a wonderful center of commerce with a hugely diverse collection of people. For this reason, I believe AFF has the potential to promote a free market in a place that can benefit from one so much. In a city with such far reaches, I am excited to help AFF tie together individuals focused on a freer market and the expansion of Houstonians' personal liberties."
