There seems to be no dirtier word in the English lexicon today than “neocon”. To the Left, neoconservatism is tantamount to fascism or Nazism; to the traditional Right, it is pure heresy. But the recent glut of obituaries is premature. The neoconservative school of thought still has a lot to teach us.
The next president must be willing to introduce policies that may incur the wrath of his constituents, his party, or both. Obama’s track record on making such tough choices is not reassuring.
Ross Douthat and Reihan Salam’s Grand New Party plots out working class-friendly education reform packages. This does not mean they can’t be market-friendly too.
