A Jeffersonian Dinner: The Future of the GOP and Conservative Values

April 15, 2021 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Casa Corazon Restaurant

2637 North 16th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85006

You are invited to join AF-Southwest and our partners at Arizona Talks for a conversation identifying core conservative values in America. During a time when founding freedom principles – as outlined in our founding documents – are under assault, it is more important than ever before to identify and rally around the distinctive principles and positions as liberty loving young professionals. This is a time to set aside a focus on the personalities of current or past elected officials and to identify and communicate what we stand for in a positive manner. The majority of Republicans continue to identify themselves as conservative each year, with this percentage rising 15 points since 1994. After averaging 61% from 1994 to 2002, the percentage of Republicans identifying as conservative rose to 66% in 2003 and stayed near that level through 2007. In 2008, a presidential election year that culminated in the race between Obama and John McCain, the percentage of Republicans identifying as conservative rose to 70% and has since ranged from 68% to 73%. The 73% of Republicans identifying as conservative in 2018 matches the high point in the trend, previously recorded in 2012.

This Jeffersonian-style dinner will take place in person at Casa Corazon in Phoenix. We encourage AF Hub members to bring a guest they disagree with on this issue, and participate in our lively discussion. Speakers will be announced prior to the event.
