AF-Jackson to Visit with Congressional Staff in Support of HIV/AIDS Awareness

Join AF-Jackson Day of Action as we visit w/Mississippi congressional staff in bringing awareness to the rise of HIV/AIDS in metro Jackson.

In recent years, Jackson’s HIV rate dropped from the 4th highest in the country to 7th, but those efforts to stop the spread were hampered by COVID. With the Capital City again among the highest in the nation, the medical community says this re-surging epidemic must be addressed.

Efforts that reduced cases prior to 2019 were stalled during COVID. Infectious disease providers who had generally been the boots on the ground for HIV turned their attention toward the COVID pandemic. PPE and medical supply shortages, HIV testings and diagnosis dropped, resulting in now epidemic levels.
