Recently, there have been increased rates of the coronavirus in Detroit and across the United States. What is behind this increase in cases, are we near the end of this pandemic, and how do we stay safe?

Join AF-Detroit on August 25 for a virtual discussion in which Dr. Anil B. Kumar and Dr. Sebi Fishta will explore these questions.

Dr. Anil Kumar, M.D., received his medical degree from University of Bombay, India in 1976. He completed his postgraduate training at the University of Bombay, India, Royal College of Surgeons, UK and Wayne State University, Michigan. He is certified with the American Board of Urology. Dr. Kumar is an Associate Clinical Professor for Michigan State University. Dr. Kumar specializes in robotic procedures including prostatectomy, nephrectomy, and bladder suspensions.

Dr. Sebi Fishta, Ph.D., practiced psychological testing and assessment (psychometrics) by providing diagnostic assessments or testing services for the purpose of diagnosing and treatment. His work has centered on patients/clients to measure clinical factors such as intellectual functioning, presence and extent of organic involvement, personality characteristics, and psychopathology. Fishta’s research provides treatment for depression, anxiety, psychosis, phobias, panic disorders, eating disorders, stress related problems, and severe mental disorders. He serves as a lecturer at Oakland University and a coordinator of the Wayne County Mental Health Agency.

Nina Abubakari, MPH, MBA, JD, FACHE, is the President and CEO of Advantage Health Centers, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Detroit, MI. She brings more than 16 years of experience in the healthcare field, utilizing strong physician, community, industry, and government relationships to engage in continuity of care models that result in process improvement and financial productivity and business development. During her career, her responsibilities included development of processes and policies in efforts to hard-wire quality improvement initiatives and compliance standards. Ms. Abubakari received a Juris Doctorate, as well as a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance, from Wayne State University.

Moderator: Brandon Brice serves as Chapter Leader for the America’s Future of Detroit. Brandon has worked on Capitol Hill in the Office of former U.S. Speaker J. Dennis Hastert. Brandon later was appointed as Director of Education Affairs in the Office of former New Jersey Governor, Hon. Chris J. Christie. Brandon serves as Board President for Advantage Health of Detroit and is a member of the American Enterprise Institute, Leadership Detroit and the Michigan Political Leadership Program.
