An Evening of Discussion about Open Borders

June 21, 2017 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Detroit Beer Company

1529 Broadway Street, Detroit,

Join America’s Future and the Center for the Study of Liberty for an evening of learning and discussion about immigration and the question of open borders.

Unlike more political or policy-focused gatherings, this event will explore big philosophical ideas at the heart of this complex social issue. Dr. Christopher Freiman of William and Mary will give a public lecture entitled “Freedom of Immigration” with ample time for Q&A and more discussion during a reception to follow. Dinner will be served prior to the beginning of the talk, so please make sure to RSVP on our Eventbrite page too.

For those interested in digging deeper into the issue, Dr. Freiman will facilitate a discussion of several articles, some in support of and some against the concept of open borders. This discussion is limited to 15 participants and registrants after that point will be added to a waitlist. Please sign up separately here for the discussion at 4:00 PM.

Schedule:
4:00 PM Small Group Discussion with Dr. Freiman (sign up in advance here)
5:30 PM Networking Reception
6:00 PM Dinner and “Freedom of Immigration” by Dr. Christopher Freiman, The College of William and Mary
7:00 PM Reception

The purpose of the event isn’t to give you solutions, but tools to use and the space to discuss with experts and with peers. We hope you will leave with new ideas to consider, stimulated to learn more on your own and equipped to have thoughtful conversations beyond this evening.
