Monetary Hotel California: Why The Fed Can Never Leave with Dr. Cris Lingle

What: Happy Hour & Presentation

Where: Whitehall Tavern 2391 Peachtree Road Atlanta, GA 30305 Suggested Donation: $10.00

The Federal Reserve has kept interest rates at unprecedented low levels since the financial crisis of 2008. In that time, the assets on the Fed’s balance sheet have increased from $900 billion to an incredible $4.5 trillion. Will this trend continue? If it does, what economic impact would that have on the population of the United States, on the world? What, if anything, can we do about it? Can the Fed ever actually “check out” of this extraordinarily loose monetary policy? Joining us this month to shed a little light on the subject is monetary policy expert Professor Cris Lingle. Dr. Lingle earned his doctorate in economics from the University of Georgia in 1977. Since then, he has been employed at universities in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the USA.  He has been a Visiting Professor of Economics at Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala since 1998. He is also an Adjunct Scholar at the Centre for Independent Studies (Sydney), Research Scholar at the Centre for Civil Society (New Delhi), and Member of the Academic Advisory Council of the Globalization Institute (Brussels). Join us at Whitehall Tavern for complimentary drinks and appetizers at 6:30 before settling down to the money business with Dr. Lingle at 7:30. Suggested donations of $10 can be made through Eventbrite or given at the door. We would love to see you there!
