Big Thinkers’ Book Club: Alienated America by Timothy Carney
April 25, 2019 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
The Library Room at the Cudahy Tower
925 East Wells St., Milwaukee, WI 53202
What is it that empowers individuals to improve the quality of life in their communities? What does it look like when a local community is hindered by a strong federal government presence? How does the strength of civil society and “traditional American values” affect individuals, communities, and American politics? And what can I do to make my community happier, healthier and more prosperous?
We’ll discuss these questions and many more at AFF-Milwaukee’s second edition of The Big Thinkers’ Book Club. Join us in the Library at the Cudahy Tower in downtown Milwaukee on April 25th from 6-8pm for drinks, snacks, and a lively discussion of Alienated America: Why Some Places Thrive While Others Collapse, by Timothy Carney. Read the book ahead of time, or come for the discussion and decide if you want to read it later! This conversation will be moderated by the AFF Milwaukee Advisory Board.
Copies of the book will be available on 4/25, but can be purchased at Amazon.com https://www.amazon.com/Alienated-America-Places-Thrive-Collapse/dp/0062797107 or at a local bookseller https://www.indiebound.org/book/9780062797100.
