Digital Marketing Specialist

The Leadership Institute’s Development department seeks an individual highly skilled in online fundraising.

For the last several years, our Donor Communications team has steadily built our online communications with donors. Today, it’s an integral channel to report success to our supporters and raise new revenue.

Your role will be to increase, expand, optimize, and maximize our online fundraising efforts, with a focus on growth in new and existing channels.

You’ll build successful, scalable plans. We care greatly about our donors – they are the ones responsible for fueling our mission through their partnership – and we want to grow long-term relationships with them, not a short-sighted “churn-and-burn” model.

We need a team player. You’ll collaborate with your colleagues in Donor Communications, across the multiple Development teams, and between departments at the Leadership Institute to learn what our organization is accomplishing and report it back to donors. You’ll work with the leadership of Donor Communications to form and execute fundraising strategy.

You’re also a self-starter. Once we have the plans settled, you know how to hit the ground running and drive projects.

This role is not remote. We work cohesively as a team and thrive on the free flow of communication internally so you get to know your colleagues, your organization, and can stay on top of developments.

Other highlights of the role:

  • Executing digital marketing campaigns from conception and strategy to implementation and reporting
  • Supporting the Development department broadly with digital solutions to innovate and increase efficiency in processes

Day to day work:

  • Drafting emails and other marketing materials for donor acquisition, cultivation, and solicitation
  • Implementing marketing campaigns across the digital fundraising tech stack
  • Convert documents to HTML
  • Deploy emails in our marketing platform
  • Create and maintain donation pages on our giving website
  • Data management in our CRM
  • Managing paid advertising on Facebook, Google Ads, and Microsoft Ads
  • Coordinating online donor correspondence with the operations and donor services teams
  • Analyzing engagement and donation data to report on the success of the program and test into growth strategies

Minimum Requirements:

  • 1 to 3 years direct marketing or communications experience
  • Familiarity working in a CRM platform and using a mass marketing email tool
  • Good writing abilities and marketing communications experience
  • Strong technical skills and attention to detail
  • A learning mindset, someone who can handle self-directing to find a solution

Outstanding Candidate:

  • 3 to 5 years of digital marketing experience
  • Significant experience with Salesforce, HubSpot, WordPress, Stripe, and Facebook Ads
  • Excellent writing ability
  • Graphic design experience/capability
  • Proficient in HTML and CSS
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience managing direct reports and taking lead on major fundraising projects
