The Nevada Policy Research Institute (NPRI) seeks a Director of Donor Communications with excellent writing skills to plan, oversee and execute the Institute’s written areas of fundraising strategy and activities. The Director will work closely with the Institute’s president, with an emphasis placed on soliciting and securing foundation support, improving the direct mail program, providing written donor updates and reports and implementing and expanding our e-marketing efforts. Qualified candidates must have a commitment to the mission of Nevada Policy and have excellent writing skills. This role also requires the ability to track and meet deadlines.

NPRI is a nonpartisan, nonprofit think tank that promotes policy ideas consistent with the principles of limited government, individual liberty and free markets. Recognized as the leading free-market voice in Nevada, NPRI’s primary areas of focus are protecting a pro-business environment, low taxes, fiscal policy, education and labor policy, with the goal of advancing free-market principles in each. Ideally the Director of Donor Communications will be based in Las Vegas, however a virtual relationship will be considered. This position will begin as soon as possible.

Responsibilities include:
The Director of Donor Communication will spend approximately 70% of his/her time writing and 30% engaged in project management and strategy.
Specifically, the Director will:
Manage the Institute’s corporate and foundation giving programs
Ensure solicitations and grant updates are sent on time and all requirements are met
Author grant proposals
Maintain proposal calendar
Research new corporate and foundation funding opportunities
Work with NPRI’s team to build and implement a viable e-fundraising strategy
Leverage NPRI’s high web traffic to maximize online giving
Manage the Institute’s direct-mail program
Work with mail vendor to ensure efficient and effective process (the vendor writes the letters, but the director oversee the process)
Manage mail calendar
Manage and mentor development team interns

An ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

3+ years of experience in development or communications; experience with grantwriting, direct mail, and other donor communications preferred but not required
A strong passion for raising funds to promote the principles of individual rights, free markets and limited government
Highly organized
Strong attention to detail
Ability to prioritize and adjust strategies midstream
Strong writing ability
Entrepreneurial spirit
A positive attitude and eagerness to work as a member of a team
