10 Things You Don’t Want to Miss at the AF Gala

By: Angel Fimbres Barceló

Ladies and gents, it is officially the day before our annual AF Gala and Buckley Awards.
Branded by fashionistas as one the dressiest events of the year celebrated by liberty-minded young professionals and one of the best parties of the year.

If you’re like me, you’ve dragged yourself to enough after work events around town to appreciate a once-a-year party that can distinguish itself above the rest. I mean honestly, if I’m standing up my dog for a night out I’m making sure it’s worth it. These days the social scene just isn’t enough, experiences need to add value, be interactive, and be super playful. Let me tell you why this year’s gala promises all of those elements with added style and creativity to match.

Here are my top picks for the ten things you don’t want to miss at tomorrow’s AF Gala.

10 Things You Don’t Want to Miss at the AF Gala1. The Venue
For our newbies, you should know this is AF’s second time hosting the annual gala at Washington Nationals Park. AF Gala attendees will get to see exclusive areas of the stadium for press, athletes and annual pass holders including a chance to hang in the dugout and on the warning track. This is the equivalent of a backstage pass and red carpet access in your shimmering gown or tuxedo against the backdrop of the stadium.

2. The Giveaways
Remember what I said about the event adding value? This year we’re making sure our gala attendees walk away with tangible opportunities to increase their skills and expand their network through AF allies. Ten different prizes and giveaways are being offered by well-known leaders in the movement and our generous sponsors. You’ll want to join the interactive game at the gala for a chance to win.

10 Things You Don’t Want to Miss at the AF Gala 13. The People
More than 250 attendees are expected to attend the gala this year. And the crowd is full of people working to increase freedom and prosperity across the country. The annual gala is the place to be seen and celebrate in style! Catch up with old friends, co-workers, and fellow liberty-lovers. You’ll want to dress to impress and wear your best black tie creative.

4. The 10th Annual Buckley Awards
America’s Future Foundation is recognizing five outstanding young professional freedom champions for going above-and-beyond; increasing opportunity and prosperity across the nation. The award is named in honor of William F. Buckley, Jr., who, before the age of 30, became the leader of the early conservative movement championing conservative fusion. The award ceremony is still one of the only ones in our movement that focuses on great achievements of young professionals.

10 Things You Don’t Want to Miss at the AF Gala 25. The VIP Bar
If you’re fancy and opted for the VIP ticket offered at the gala this year you’ll want to flex your exclusivity at your own VIP access only bar inside the Delta club. This open bar for VIP ticket holders is a place to be seen and enjoy your cocktails away from the crowd. Pinkies up!

6. The Endless Photo Opportunities
A recent study found that nearly 30 percent of millennials consider attending an event an act of brand loyalty, while nearly one-quarter attend just for social media bragging rights. Whether you’re in the first category or the latter, we’ll supply you with bragging rights and backdrops for your next unique photo opportunity. You can even expect a cameo appearance by racing President Abe Lincoln.

10 Things You Don’t Want to Miss at the AF Gala 37. The Food
Expect all the flavors of the ballpark food you love on game day. Stadium popcorn, Cracker Jack, pretzel bites with spicy queso, mini hot dogs, mini sliders, and specialty gourmet pizzas. Afterwards, experience the sweet tooth paradise of a make-your-own ice cream sundae bar with unlimited toppings.

8. The Batting Cages
We’re excited to offer yet another first for the AF Gala this year. The official Nationals batting cages offer a first-hand experience sharing the same space as the professional athletes. We encourage you to roll up your sleeves and practice your swing inside the official Nationals batting cages.

10 Things You Don’t Want to Miss at the AF Gala 49. The Dance Floor
What party is complete without a DJ and dance floor? It’s all the fun of a wedding without your relatives pestering you about when it will be your turn to get married… Dance party, anyone?

10. The After Party
After the gala, we’ll head over to Mission at Navy Yard for more fun and drinks. The fun doesn’t have to end at Nationals Park: happy hour pricing is extended just for AF gala attendees. One lucky gala attendee will also win a $100 certificate to use at Mission.
