All Top Five: Cheap Beer
Ah, Mr. Poulos raises an excellent point: What are the five best cheap beers?
- PBR. Gotta agree with James, and, despite what I intimated earlier, I love me some Pabst. I just don’t love it at $4 a whack. I don’t know for sure that this is the case any more, but Rocket Bar used to have the right idea, selling cans of PBR for $2…provided you shotgunned it at the bar. Any of you readers have an idea if that still happens?
- National Bohemian. I don’t drink Natty Boh too often, but it’s a solid enough beer. Brewed a little to the North, in good old Bawlteemor. Surprisingly free of heroin considering the city of origin.
- Hurricane. Does this count as a beer? It’s a malt liquor…and what a malt liquor it is! Served 40 delicious ounces at a time, it’s important to drink this potent brew quickly; if you don’t, you risk having 15 oz of warm grossness on your hands.
- Let’s see…Pilsner Urquell. Only applies to this list when you get it out of the tap. And in Prague. In the states you’re dropping $5 a pint, at least….even with a terribly weak Dollar you can find it in the Czech Republic for $2 a glass.
- Um…I don’t know. Miller High Life is a good choice (it is the sparkling white wine of beers, after all), but I never really drink it. Mickey’s? Ugh. Five was too many. I immediately regret this blog post…
