What's the point?
An odd comment at /Film:
I came across this quote from George Lucas in The New York Times:
“I mean, why do we have to make another Indiana Jones? There was no point to it, other than, gee, this might be fun.”
I’m not even going to comment on the quote, because it already says everything I would like to say about Lucas.
Not sure I understand the criticism of Lucas’s comment. Is there supposed to be a deeper purpose to the Indiana Jones series than pure, unadulterated fun? We’re not talking about War and Peace or Crime and Punishment here…we’re talking about a series whose previous installments involved Nazis searching for Biblical artifacts and an Indian cult that tore out the still-beating heart of sacrifice victims just for kicks.
