New York Times Company credit rating falls to junk status

Crain’s New York reports that S&P has downgraded the New York Times Company’s credit rating from “BBB-” to “BB-,” which places it on par with the government of Kazakhstan. (Hey, at least it’s above Pakistan’s.) Perhaps even more amazing is that the Times Company’s quarterly earnings, down 51% year-over-year, actually beat expectations.
