Suspending the campaign?
Is it just me, or does this come off as kind of, um, silly? Or, to put it another way: I’m all for McCain and Obama coming back to DC so they can actually vote on these proposals, read the bills, whatever. But why propose the debate? Neither McCain nor Obama is on a committee dealing with the bailout. It shouldn’t really take all that much effort to sit there, vote yes/no, and let your aides tell you how to vote like they usually do.
Instead of calling timeout, McCain should be getting ready for the debate, and getting ready to take it to Obama on the issue. Or, at least, getting ready to explain how he’d fix things. This is really bizarre.
