Arlen Specter and the Republican Party

I have no real affection for Arlen Specter. I don’t feel terribly strongly one way or the other that he’s leaving the Republican Party. I agree with him on some issues, disagree with him on others. What I think about the whole situation is this: A party committed to primarying winning candidates in moderate states in favor of nominating a more partisan candidate who will almost certainly lose in the general deserves to be a smaller, more regional party.
