Millionaires are bad people
Will Wilkinson reminds me of a particularly egregious bit of stupidity from Matt Yglesias last week:
It’s possible, of course, that Vikram Pandit really does find being a bank executive to be intrinsically interesting. But a good person, who’s primary passion was the life of a bank executive, would be donating the bulk of his massive compensation package to charity.
Gotcha. So all those basketball players Matt so loves are all clearly bad people as well. I mean, c’mon: they’re wringing tens of millions of dollars out of teams who, in many cases, have taxpayer-funded stadiums. This is a direct transfer of wealth from the taxpayers to already-wealthy millionaires! And they’re not giving nearly enough money to charity!! Bad People!!! Ready the stakes and the stocks!
