Roger Custer Selected for Prestigious Buckley Award
The Young Conservatives Coalition will award AF executive director Roger Custer and four other young professional conservatives with their prestigious Young Conservative Leadership “Buckley Award.” The awards will recognize individuals between the ages of 21-40 who have made a significant contribution to the conservative movement at large in the last year. The awards are in honor of the late William F. Buckley, Jr. – the conservative movement icon who founded National Review and wrote God & Man at Yaleall before the age of 30.
Other winners include James O’ Keefe from Project Veritas, Matthew Continetti of the Washington Free Beacon, Dan Backer of DB Capitol Strategies, and Ryan P. Williams from The Claremont Institute. The award ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 13th from 6:00-8:00pm at The Capitol Hill Club, at 300 First Street, SE, Washington, DC 20003. AF is a co-sponsor of the event.
“This is the fifth year the YCC has given out this award to deserving young professional conservatives who’ve advanced the conservative and liberty cause,” said YCC President, Christopher Malagisi. “After a tumultuous year of scandals, war, global health crises, and historical congressional elections in 2014, these rising stars played a critical role in helping advance conservatism this past year in their own unique ways. While incredibly competitive this year in number and scope of nominations, we are proud to honor these individuals for their contributions in advancing conservatism.”
“I am deeply honored to be recognized by the Buckley Award,” said Custer. “William F. Buckley, Jr. is a role model for all of us with his entrepreneurship starting National Review and life-long witty defense of freedom through writing, speaking, TV, and debating. He would be proud of AF leaders around the country who are educating their peers about free markets, limited government, and individual liberty.”
