Art imitating life

By: Sonny Bunch

I’m pretty willing to give actors and musicians the benefit of the doubt in situations like this one:

Put yourself in his shoes: it’s an early morning show, he’s been touring constantly, he’s probably on his last nerve, he asked the producer to not make the interview about his acting, and then he thinks that, in the very intro, some dillweed host is treating his musical passion as little more than a hobby, as if he’s Kevin freaking Bacon or something. Everybody has bad days, and this was Mr. Thornton’s.

But it definitely reminded me of an SNL skit from a few years back. It was an Inside the Actors Studio parody, and Will Ferrell was his usual brilliant self, hamming it up and treating Billy Bob as the greatest thing since Shakespeare — especially for his work in Armageddon. Finally, Billy Bob snaps:

Why do you keep bringing up “Armageddon”?! I don’t understand that! I didn’t even want to be in that movie! Why do you keep bringing up movies like that! I’ve told you that before! Now you’re speaking in French and stuff, I don’t even understand you! What’s wrong with you!

Good times.
