Dallas Chapter Launches with Successful First Event

By: Kathryn Shelton

More than 40 liberty-minded young professionals attended the first meeting of the Dallas chapter of America’s Future Foundation on September 12. The event featured Professor Robert Lawson, who holds the Jerome M. Fullinwider Chair in Economic Freedom at the O’Neil Center for Global Markets and Freedom at Southern Methodist University.

Lawson’s talk, “The Rise and Fall of Economic Freedom in America,” was followed by a spirited question and answer session and a discussion among attendees about the future of economic freedom in the United States. He focused on the United States’ declining indicators of freedom as reported in this brand new annual report. Guests enjoyed an open bar in a private room at Bistro 31 in Highland Park Village.

The first event was a promising start for the Dallas chapter. Many of the guests left the get-together excited to spread the word about America’s Future Foundation and its goal of developing and identifying young leaders for liberty.

The second event for the Dallas chapter will be on October 17th, when Matthew Mitchell from the Mercatus Center at George Mason University will discuss his innovative new research on cronyism in America.

The Dallas chapter hopes to continue to grow and build its network. For more information or to get more involved, like our Facebook page or contact Kathryn Shelton at 214-768-4210 or at [email protected].
