AFF-Dallas: Reimagining Capitalism
August 26, 2020 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Al Biernat's North
5251 Spring Valley Road , Dalas,
Free market capitalism is one of humanity’s greatest inventions and the greatest source of prosperity the world has ever seen. But this success is not without its costs.
Rebecca Henderson’s rigorous research in economics, psychology, and organizational behavior, as well as her many years of work with companies around the world, gives us a path forward. She debunks the worldview that the only purpose of business is to make money and maximize shareholder value. She shows that we have failed to reimagine capitalism so that it is not only an engine of prosperity but also a system that is in harmony with environmental realities, striving for social justice and the demands of truly democratic institutions.
Though there are certainly some flaws in the current capitalistic system, reasonable people can disagree about the best mechanisms for fixing these flaws. Attendees at this event are asked to listen to Henderson’s discussion with Russ Roberts on Econ Talk, and come prepared to talk about the concept of “reimagining capitalism”. We will be raffling off 2 of Henerson’s books at the event!
Attendance will be limited to 10 participants. If you are unable to attend, please let me know asap so we can replace you with someone on the waitlist.
I can’t wait to discuss “reimagining capitalism” with you!
