Can the Free Market Solve the Opioid Epidemic?
September 27, 2018 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
653 Massachussetts Ave, Indianapolis , IN
In the United States, more than 90 people die every day from overdoses involving prescription opioids, and more than 1,000 people are treated in emergency rooms for not using prescription opioids as directed.
In 2017 alone, the opioid epidemic cost Hoosiers $4.3 billion and between 2003-2017, more than 12,300 Hoosiers died.
Often, individuals look to the government to solve societal crises. However, time and again, government responses to crises are often slow and misguided and many are turning to non-profits, entrepreneurs, and private companies to reduce the impact these drugs are having on communities.
So, can the free market solve the opioid epidemic?
We are excited to have experts on this subject come together for a dynamic panel to share their stories, research, and insight.
This event is your chance to discuss one of the most pressing issues facing our state. Join us for this discussion and evening to meet and network with other young professionals from across Indiana. As always, we will have lots of food and your first drink is on us.
