Stay in School! Ed. Reform and Ed. Choice Socratic Dinner with AF-DC

August 29, 2022 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Lapis

1847 Columbia Rd. NW, Washington, DC 20009

Join AF-DC for a discussion on education policies in our area. Can we make school better for kids and parents?

School: some of us loved it, some of us hated it, but we all had to attend in some shape or form. We can all agree that some form of K-12 education ought to be required for children so they can grow up to navigate the world successfully – but is our current education system in the DMV doing its best to that end? As millennials who either have children or plan to someday, can we trust that our kids will receive the learning they deserve in our area schools?

What can be done to make education better? And what can we do even if we don’t yet have kids to make education better in our area?

It’s time to dive into education – possible reforms, maybe even school choice – and see how we might make schooling provide better outcomes for students and better experiences for parents.

We’ve invited policy experts on education to guide us through this discussion, and more.

This Socratic discussion-style dinner will take place in person at Lapis in Adam’s Morgan. The night will kick off with a time to network and then flow into a seated dinner where we will open the floor to discussion on the policies that dictate K-12 education. We will have a few subject matter experts in the room to help guide the discussion and provide helpful insights into the landscape and history of education in the DC area.

Dinner and drinks are included in the ticket price. All AF Hub members (not National members) are able to attend free. Please email Lydia to request your complimentary ticket at [email protected].
