Fashion World Begs for Money, Forced to Wear Last-Season’s Clothes

By: Nicole Kurokawa Neily

Okay, this bailout thing is getting serious.

From New York Magazine:

Last month the Italian government approved a stimulus package of about $2.54 billion to help the auto and domestic-appliance sectors, ignoring the fashion industry. Head of Italy’s Chamber of Fashion Mario Boselli would not stand for this and called out the injustice. “I can understand helping the automotive industry but wouldn’t fashion deserve the same, if not more, consideration than the furniture industry?”

Times are tough even for the most devoted fashionistas — some have even been forced to wear the same outfit twice (gasp!)

I guess if the world’s going to hell in a handbag, at least make it a chic Italian one. Thousands of hardworking Italians are depending on you!
