Gender Chaos

By: Peyton Holliday

100 years ago our understanding of gender was just two categories—male and female. Order in how families operated was supreme in this world. You had a mother and a father and children—the very definition of the nuclear family. Each child was either male or female based on how they were born.

Gender was not fluid and there was order. Order in how families operated. This order gave our society a way to operate and is the way we were created to operate. Gender was not a decision that one decided when they woke up one day, but assigned to us through birth with very distinct differences.

Not until recently have we begun to see gender chaos in our modern world. A friend of mine recently stated that her parents had it easy because they just had to tell her about the birds and the bees and now she has to describe to her kids how,

“The birds and the bees. The bees and the bees. The birds and the birds. The bees who think they are birds and the birds who think they are bees.”

When you take away the confines of marriage between one man and one woman for life, chaos enters the world. When you take away the confines of gender being who you were created to be, chaos enters the world. All kinds of chaos.

Chaos over what marriage actually is. Chaos over children who think they might want to be a gender that they were not created to be. Chaos over what to do with trangender sports and chaos about bathrooms, the list goes on and on.

Our world was created for order and purpose. Gender was created for order and purpose.

When order and purpose are thrown into chaos, such as with the recent discussions on what gender actually is, we have situations like what is happening in women’s sports.

In the world of athletics, we are seeing a variety of women’s sports struggling with how to handle transgender competitors. The very existence of women’s sports is because women cannot compete fairly with men. There is no doubt that men have biological advantages they are born with that make them better athletes.

Women such as Eleanora Sears worked their entire lifetimes to make a place for women in sports. Eleanora was one of the first women tennis players and sought to make the sport not just a men’s sport. Her example opened the door for other women to play tennis. When gender chaos takes its toll, it is a discredit to the years of work that women like Elanora have put into making a place for women’s sports.

Maybe you are like me and you see the gender chaos around you and wonder what you can do. As citizens of the United States we have a right to be concerned about the lack of order in our country.

Various ways exist to place order back into our society.

One way is through voting. Be sure that you are voting for people who stand for tradition. Vote for people who will support women’s sports. Vote for people who will support order and support separation of men and women’s bathrooms. Voting can make a difference in the world of gender chaos.

Another way to place order back into our society is to run or support candidates for your local school board. Sad as it is, kids are the ones targeted the most in these situations. We need school board members and teachers who will seek to stand up for order and truth and not fall to the narrative that children should identify as who they desire to be that day – whether a boy or girl or something entirely different.

While all of this chaos is around us, there is hope. Hope for the future of our country and even hope for the future of those who are struggling with gender issues. We cannot deny that people do struggle and need help to cope with hardships.

As story after story is told about kids and people who went through gender changes and regrets, we should seek to help these children work through their inner struggles. They were created to be the gender given to them at birth through the way their body was formed. This should not be a question of who they want to be, but a question of if they are willing to embrace who they were created to be in the first place.

While not everyone believes that our world was created by God, I think one thing conservatives can agree on is that there is an order in this world and it is important to our society that we keep the order in order.

While the world around us descends into gender chaos, we should seek to bring back the order that we were created for.
