Meet our 2022 Local Leader: Anthony Spiratos!
Even though our 2022 Annual Gala & Awards Ceremony has come and gone, we wanted to make sure we gave our 2022 Award Winners the attention and praise they deserve for all their work making their communities and this country more free and prosperous places. To start, let’s take a look at our 2022 Local Leader: Anthony Spiratos!
Anthony has already made a significant impact in the hospitality industry and in the Rhode Island community. During the COVID-19 pandemic when most restaurants were shut down or forced to offer delivery services, he found that delivery was unattainable for most restaurants due to the high fees major apps were charging – up to 15% to 30% in some cases. At the same time, launching their own in-house delivery was simply not a feasible option for many restaurants.
In response, Anthony launched Dine Out Life – a competitor to Grub Hub and Uber Eats – by using local knowledge and connections. Dine Out Life’s founding principle is that they are FREE for restaurants – and always will be! One of our core beliefs here at America’s Future is that local individuals have the knowledge, experience, and expertise that can only come from living in and being part of a community. Anthony is a glowing example of that belief, helping his community in a way that only he could! What started as a small start-up serving Newport, RI has expanded into a growing company in the Northeast.
Now that the pandemic is in the rear-view mirror, Anthony is transitioning his business to an exciting new model, providing premium, sustainable packaging for takeout orders. The goal of the new business model is to promote efficiency while reducing waste, which all too often is an unfortunate by-product of the takeout industry. In the coming year, Anthony hopes to expand Dine Out Life into a dozen new cities!
Anthony’s company donates 5% of all profits to Claire Taylor Foundation, a female-owned nonprofit that works to end food insecurity, support higher education, and empower women.
As his nominator put it, “the beauty of free markets is that they’re the best way to bring people the help they need, when they need it.” Through his tireless efforts to serve his community, Anthony serves as a shining example of that beauty in action.
