Ron Silver, 1946-2009

J-Pod crafts a fine obit for the character actor here; I only met the man one time, but in my limited experience I can assure you that he was in fact both an interesting guy and well-spoken on the gravest issue of our day. Hearing him tell his conversion story from an arch-liberal to a post-9/11 neo-con (kind of) and the friends that it cost him — not the work, because it’s hard to say how many jobs his outspoken support of George W. Bush cost him, but the people who simply stopped being his friend because of how he voted — was one of the sadder indictments of the liberal agenda in Hollywood that I’ve ever heard.
