Snail mail from Sean Hannity

By: AF Editors

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for another episode of the fundraising follies. Today, I got a letter in the mail from Sean Hannity, soliciting funds from the Heritage Foundation. I learn from Sean that “the axis of Obama-Pelosi-and-Reid” has:

Crippled our free-market economic system through the government’s takeover and control of private businnesses, punishing regulations, favoritism and tax hikes.

Really? Crippled? Crippled is like a beggar in the streets of Mumbai without legs. He isn’t going to walk again. As far as I can tell, Obama has done two big things on the economic front. First, he continued the bailout that the Bush administration started. (Ugly, but probably unavoidable.) Then he pushed through a $900 billion stimulus, promising to hold unemployment down to 8 percent. (By 2014, perhaps.)

So, should we be feeling crippled? I wouldn’t say so. Some conservatives are even optimistic about the future.

The strange think about my letter from Sean H. is that it seems to be based on the premise that healthcare reform didn’t pass. After its reference to our crippled economy, the letter says that the Axis of Obama has

Come within a whisker of taking over one-sixth of the economy through government-controlled healthcare…and much more.

The letter is dated March 22, so you’d think that Sean knows what happened in the House the night before.

Then, in the remaining three pages of Sean’s letter, there is just one paragraph about healthcare. On the list of “leftist plans coming at us thick and fast”, healthcare doesn’t even make the cut. I suspect my next letter from Sean will have a different emphasis.
