Learn it, Live it, Love it: The end of 2019 edition

By: Cindy Cerquitella

As we head into the holiday season, I’d like to take a moment to thank all of you for reading along this year. It’s been a pleasure and an inspiration sharing ways to learn, live our freedom- loving ideals, and celebrate important wins that enhance people’s lives.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and see you in 2020!

Learn It:
As AF continues to cultivate a movement of young people ready to take the lead in the future of our country, I found this research report on millenials and Gen Z and how they relate to broader movements fascinating. Even mass movements supported by the likes of Oprah (March for our Lives) are still only known by a small portion of the population. This info helps keep expectations realistic, but also reminds us that it’s not always how many people join with you, but who they are that’s the most impactful.

Live it:
Need a last minute gift? Consider picking something up from one of our awesome Laissez Fair vendors. You’ll get something handcrafted and support a business that loves freedom too! Consider, the children’s book for your nephew: No One Knows How to Make a Pizza, by Julie Borowski, and pick up your dad some Liberty Seeds to spark conversation around the tree from Alex Yershov.

Love it:
It can be tough to find something to love when your government distracts you with an impeachment trial while passing a massive spending bill and renewing the Patriot Act… but I will try!

First, there was an election in the UK and the Labour Party was resoundingly beat. Three cheers for no Jeremy Corbyn, who is more socialist than Bernie Sanders, as prime minister!

Second, the Texas Public Policy Foundation helped ensure people could rent out their homes on platforms like airbnb and vrbo by suing the city of Austin to lift the short-term rental ban.
