Communicating with Empathy During Reopening

By: AF Editors

“Openers” and “Closers” have far more in common than they might think. We can both express our concerns and viewpoints, and find middle ground on the reopening process that works for everyone. At least this is what both Dr. Luke Conway, a professor of psychology at the University of Montana, and Beverly Hallberg, the President of the District Media Group, believe. In this pandemic world where the crisis has further deepened political divides and media has fanned the flames, can we overcome our own frustrations, embrace empathy, and understand the perspectives of those who disagree with us? Perhaps even more difficult, can we successfully communicate our concerns and ideas to find solutions to our most pressing problems?
