Preparing for the 2024 Presidential Election

By: Anthony Miragliotta

2024 will be here before you know it. The presidential race is already kicking into high gear. Candidates are raising money, getting their name out there, and holding rallies. The field remains very crowded on the Republican side while the Democratic side has not seen a lot of people join the race for the White House.

On the Democrat side, there are two main contenders, President Joe Biden and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. the nephew to former President John F. Kennedy. While Biden represents the establishment Democrats, RFK Jr. represents what the Democrats used to be. RFK Jr. has been running on many key issues such as medical freedom, which is an issue that Republicans have been winning on. The RFK Jr. campaign has drawn a lot of traction, despite being massively outraised by Biden per the FEC.

On the Republican side, there are numerous candidates that entered the race. Former President Donald Trump appears to be polling ahead of the crowded field despite not attending the first debate. But Ron DeSantis is also carrying major momentum as he is coming off a win for the ages in Florida. Trump is looking to retake the White House after being defeated by Biden in 2020. Both Trump and DeSantis have been running on key issues voters are worried about like medical freedom, fighting tyranny, and limited government. DeSantis has faced many attacks by Team Trump. Team Trump has called DeSantis a ‘RINO” and that DeSantis is “part of the swamp.” This is actually hilarious since the same supporters of Trump have called DeSantis the best Governor in America before he ran against Trump. Many of the people who support say DeSantis should have “waited” until 2028 to run. The way I see it, there is no such thing as “waiting your turn” to seek office.

A dark horse candidate to follow in this election will be Vivek Ramaswamy, a biotech entrepreneur. Ramaswamy, 38, is easily the youngest candidate for President from both sides of the aisle. Ramaswamy is extremely smart and has an impressive background. He founded his own company in 2014. Since he is a relatively new face to the political arena, his name recogntion is very low. If Ramaswamy chooses to stick with politics for the longhaul, he will be a force to be reckoned with in the Republican party.

The way things are going, it is most likely going to be a Trump vs. Biden rematch. Both candidates have an unfavorable view amongst the American electorate. However, the electorate seems to be dreading a Trump vs. Biden rematch in 2024. There are reasons to want to avoid this rematch: They are both above the age of 75, both men are under major criminal investigations, and the American electorate wants someone new.

In conclusion, regardless of who you end up voting for, just remember to vote with a conscious and informed mind. It is important to do your due diligence and look into who would be the best candidate for President.
