Washington Planner: God Save the Queen
The Queen is in town! The socialists lost in France! Spiderman defeated Venom and the Sandman (sort of)! All is right with the world.
But the times, they are a changin’, my friends. Washington Planner in the coming weeks is going to take on a new form, as a blog on its own and an integrated calendar, while still remaining a part of the Brainwash you’ve come to know and love.
That said, I’m going to need your help a bit. Hear of an exciting event around town that’s just begging for a little infiltration of the conservative bright young things set? Hosting a happy hour or a party and want to invite the AF family? Send it my way. If you’re event looks fun, I’ll post it. If it doesn’t, I’ll mock you for having poor judgment.

You’re So Money and You Don’t Even Know It: Pop to the Jam Cellar tonight for a big Boilermakers Jazz Band party! If you’re an intermediate or advanced lindy hopper, lessons are at 8:30, then the free beginner lesson is at 9:00. No partner or experience needed! Events like this don’t happen ever day, kids. And it don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing.

I Wonder If They’re As Good As Air SUPPLY…: Swing by the 9:30 Club to see Air. Tickets are $40, so they must be good. Also, the opening act is Kate Havenevik, who is incredible. (Get onto iTunes and listen to “New Day” if you don’t believe me.) Doors at 7 pm.

Does This Heist Involve Matt Damon and Brad Pitt?: In a sure-to-be controversial discussion, the author of “Invasion of the Party Snatchers” Victor Gold discusses the role that “holy rollers” and neo-cons have had in changing/destroying the GOP for a Cato Institute lunch. Agree or disagree, this will surely be a luncheon meeting you won’t want to miss. Noon, Cato, RSVP.
DC is Hollywood for the Gorgeous: Shake off the awful stereotype (you know what I’m talking about) and head over to City Tavern Club after work for the annual designer trunk show! From the preppy to the fashionable and everything in between, partake in a little retail therapy at this event that’s sure to be a blast.
Wikipedia, Reason and Adult Beverages: Don’t miss the Reason happy hour at Dragonfly, kicking off at 6:30 and leaving “whenever you say it does” according to the Evite (how libertarian!). Folks from Free Stat Project, etc., will be in attendance.

Come On, They Serve Sparks Plus!: As if you needed another excuse to go to Rock and Roll Hotel. The Album Leaf plays, doors 8:30, tickets $10. Belong and the Parlor Scouts are optning. Cervesa For A Good Cause: Mosey down to the SW Waterfront on Saturday night for the District Trust Charities kick-off event supporting Cure Autism Now. With a great host list and drink specials, where else would you want to be? $10, party starts around 7:30.

Daft Punk Is Playing In My Town: OK, so not really. But LCD Soundsystem is. At 9:30 Club . (Hint: a big song of theirs, “Daft Punk Is Playing At My House”, is great times.) Word on the street is the show is sold out, but surely you know someone who knows someone who can pull some strings. Or whatever. Call in favors, it’ll be worth it.
