About Doublethink

Submit to Doublethink Online

Interested in writing for Doublethink Online? The best way to figure out if your pitch is right for DTOnline is simply to read through our archives. But in general, we’re looking for articles on politics, culture, books, arts, and science. We prize original reporting and research, sharp thinking, unique analysis, and wit. We’re based in Washington, D.C., and are especially interested in articles focusing on life in the nation’s capitol, especially as it pertains to young professionals working in and around the city’s political class. We’ll consider articles from just about anyone, but part of our mission is to publish writers who haven’t had too much exposure – which means if you’re trying to break into the writing world, this might be a good place to start.

Most articles should be in the 1000-1500 word range. Short pitches (2-3 paragraphs) are preferred, but feel free to send the complete article, though you’ll do better if you include a short summary in your email. No need to have previous writing credits, but if you do, it wouldn’t hurt to mention them, or even send clips.

A few more things to remember:

  1. By submitting an article, you grant us permission to publish it and to edit it for length and content.
  2. Please double-check articles for factual accuracy.
  3. Include a short bio with your submission.
  4. Include your full name and email address and a daytime and nighttime phone number as well. Please submit articles as a Word attachment and also include the text in the body of the email as well.
  5. Articles should be proofread and checked for grammar and spelling.
  6. By submitting an article, you claim sole authorship.

Submissions can be sent to Peter Suderman at: peter@americasfuture.org
