Medical Marijuana in Texas

Join AF-Austin for our next event, Medical Marijuana in Texas: “A Laboratories of Democracy” Moment.

We’re excited to welcome Susan Hays, Attorney who represented GBSciences, Inc. (a company out of New Braunfels and in the marijuana industry) and Zoe Russell of Republicans Against Marijuana Prohibition for a discussion on the current state of medical marijuana in Texas and the regulations that companies currently have to navigate when trying to enter the market.

The Compassionate Care Use bill was passed in 2015, however it took Texas years to finalize the regulation of medical marijuana. The current market in Texas is small–less than 50,000 patients with intractable epilepsy divided among three licensees. Getting one of these licenses positions a company for that broader license when the scope of medical marijuana inevitably expands.
